Subway Rewards
Subway Rewards is the loyalty scheme attached to the Subway app in the UK. You collect on what you spend and redeem against menu items rather than getting money off, which makes its real value depend on what you redeem for.
This page explains the mechanism and how to judge whether it is worth using, without quoting a points rate. Earn and redemption rates are set by Subway, change from time to time and can differ by promotion, so a number printed here would go stale quietly.
How the Scheme Works
Four steps, and one of them is the part people miss.
- 1
Get the app and register
Rewards lives inside the Subway app. There is no physical card scheme running alongside it in the UK, so the app is the whole route in.
- 2
Scan before you pay, every time
This is the step people miss. Points are attached at the point of sale, so scanning after payment does not backdate them. In store, scan first; in the app, ordering ahead handles it for you.
- 3
Collect on what you spend
Earning is tied to spend rather than to items, so a meal deal earns on the bundle price. Promotions occasionally multiply earning on particular days or products.
- 4
Redeem against menu items
You spend points on food rather than taking money off a bill, which is why the value depends on what you pick. Redeeming against a higher priced item gets more back per point than redeeming against a cookie.
Judging What It Is Worth
Rather than quote a rate that may change, here is how to work it out yourself in about a minute.
Compare redemption targets
Check how many points a Furious Chicken Jacket Potato at £9.99 costs against a cookie at £1.19. If the points difference is smaller than the price difference, redeem on the expensive item.
Count the whole meal
Earning is on spend, so a 6 inch Meal Deal at £11.78 earns considerably more than a sub alone. The meal planner shows what a week of either actually costs.
Watch for multiplier days
Bonus earning promotions are where the scheme becomes genuinely worthwhile. They appear in the app's offers tab and are usually short.
What Rewards Does Not Cover
Points are earned in store and through the app, not through third party delivery apps. Ordering a Subway on Uber Eats or Just Eat generally means no points, which is a real cost of convenience worth factoring in.
Because every UK store is a franchise, participation is not guaranteed everywhere. Most take part, but if the scheme matters to you it is worth confirming at your usual branch, and store pages in the locator list which services each one offers.
Gift card purchases are a separate mechanism again: see the gift card page for how those work and how they interact with paying in store.
Subway Rewards Questions
Download the Subway app and register an account. Rewards is built into it, and there is no separate signup or physical card to collect in the UK.
Generally not through third party apps like Uber Eats, Just Eat or Deliveroo. Points are for in store purchases and orders placed through Subway's own app, which is worth remembering when convenience is costing you both a delivery fee and the points.
Menu items rather than money off, which is why the value depends on your choice. Redeeming against a higher priced item such as a Furious Chicken Jacket Potato at £9.99 returns more per point than redeeming against a cookie.
Points and rewards carry expiry rules set by Subway and shown in the app against your balance. Check the app rather than a page like this one, because the terms change and only your account shows your own dates.
Most do, but stores are franchises so it is not guaranteed. If it matters, confirm at your usual branch; each store page in the locator lists the services that branch offers.
Usually you can earn on what you actually pay, so a discounted bill earns on the discounted amount. Stacking rules for specific offers are stated on the offer itself in the app.
